Frequently Asked Questions

CloudBuddies helps you keep your pet safe if they get lost. You create an online pet profile and link it to a physical tag on your pet collar. If someone finds your pet, they scan the tag with a phone and see the profile you chose to share.

You can add photos, how to contact you, vet notes, and more in one place. You can change that information anytime in My pets without buying a new tag.

A smart tag is a small tag for the collar. One side usually shows a QR code (a square pattern a phone camera can read). Many tags also have a tap chip so some phones can read them by holding the phone close.

Instead of only a phone number engraved in metal, the tag opens your CloudBuddies profile. You decide how much detail a stranger sees, and you can update it from home.

Anything that helps someone help your pet: name, type or breed, colour, age or birth date, microchip number, medicines, allergies, food, vet and insurance contacts, photos, and short notes about behaviour.

Open My pets, pick your pet, and fill in the sections step by step. Nothing has to be perfect on day one—you can come back later.

No. The main “lost pet” profile that works with your tag is included when you buy and activate the tag. Someone who scans the tag can reach you using what you set up, without a paid plan.

If you want extras (for example SMS when the tag is scanned, or more tools for daily care), you can look at paid plans on the Plans page. Yearly plans may also include tag replacement—read the details there before you buy.

You choose. Each tag is linked to one profile that belongs to you. In My petsPrivacy settings, you turn fields on or off for the public page people see after a scan.

If a field is off, it stays private even if you saved it in the form. Turn on the fields you are happy for a stranger to see in an emergency.

Yes, when that feature is on for your account. You can get an email or text when the tag is scanned. If the person who scans shares their location, you may see roughly where the scan happened.

You can also look back at past scans from your account to understand how the tag is being used.

Yes. The tag only needs a phone with internet. Your profile opens in the web browser, so it works while you travel too.

Email and SMS alerts depend on your phone company and the options on your plan, but the tag itself is not limited to one country.

Sign in, open My pets, and set your pet to Lost. That tells anyone who scans the tag that your pet should not be out alone.

They then see the public part of your profile. They can message you, call if you showed a number, or share a location—based on what you allowed in privacy settings.

They work best together. A microchip is tiny and sits under the skin; a vet or shelter reads it with a special reader and looks up your ID in a registry.

A CloudBuddies tag hangs on the collar and is easy for any passer-by to read with a normal phone. Your online profile can hold more detail and you can change it yourself.

The chip helps official channels; the tag helps the first person on the street reach you fast.

No. After a scan, everything opens in the phone web browser. That way a neighbour or passer-by can help without installing anything first.
