Frequently Asked Questions

In simple terms, CloudBuddies is an online platform that enables you to generate a Pet Profile that will appear when someone scans your Pet Tag.

Through our platform, you can securely store essential details about your pet such as their Breed, Color, Date of Birth, Vaccinations, Dietary Preferences, Vet contact information, and even include a photo of your beloved pet, along with other pertinent information.

It is a Tag similar in size to the conventional Pet Tags but instead of writing your contact details on the tag, it is linked to a digital profile on the cloud where you can store much more information and change it without the need to order a new Pet Tag.

Our Pet Tags are made of durable and waterproof material and are equipped with an NFC chip on one side and a QR code on the other side. By scanning or tapping our smart pet tags with any smartphone with NFC capabilities, someone can gain access to your pet's unique profile and be able to contact you via either Email, SMS or Phone to help bringing your pet home safe.

Your pet's profile contains all the information regarding your pet such as the name, breed, color and age, Vet Contact Details, Insurance, Medications, Vaccinations, Type of Food and so much more.

Your Pet tag comes with a free plan which will give you access to all our features to bring your pet home safe in case it is found and scanned by a person.

We do also offer a paid monthly and yearly subscription which gives you access to extra features such as SMS notifications with your pet location and a Pet Tag replacement in case lost or damage (this last one only for Yearly subscriptions)

Each Pet Tag is linked to a unique Pet Profile and it contains all the information that has been stored by the pet owner.

The Pet owner decides what information wants to display on their Pet profile by modifying the privacy settings.

Yes! When your pet tag is scanned, you will be notified either via email or SMS text with the the exact location of your pet (Providing the person who scan the tag shares the location with you).

This data is stored in our platform for only you to see. You can view the pet tag scan history and see the locations where your pet tag has been scanned.

Yes! Our Pet Tags can be scanned anywhere in the world and you will receive either an email or SMS text regardless the location of your pet tag.

When your pet is lost, you can login to our platform and set your Pet Profile status to "Lost".

If anybody finds your pet, they can either scan the QR code or NFC tag with their mobile phones and access your pet profile which contains all the information you have shared and made public.

From there, they can either share the location with you via email, SMS text or simply call you if you made your contact details visible to the public.

They can also get directions to your house if you allowed your address to be shown to the public on your Pet profile.

A normal pet chip, also known as a microchip, is a small electronic device that is implanted under the skin of a pet, typically between the shoulder blades. The chip contains a unique identification number that can be read using a specialized scanner. This identification number is registered with a pet registry database, which holds information such as the owner's contact details and the pet's medical history. When a lost pet is found, animal shelters or veterinarians can scan the chip to retrieve the contact information and reunite the pet with its owner.

On the other hand, an NFC (Near Field Communication) or QR code pet tag is a physical tag that is attached to a pet's collar or harness. These tags incorporate modern technology to provide additional features beyond basic identification. Here are the main differences between a normal pet chip and an NFC/QR code pet tag:

Technology: A normal pet chip uses RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, while an NFC/QR code pet tag utilizes NFC or QR code technology. RFID chips require specialized scanners to read the identification number, whereas NFC tags can be read by NFC-enabled devices like smartphones, and QR codes can be scanned using smartphone cameras.

Readability: Normal pet chips require proximity to a scanner to be read, typically within a few inches. In contrast, NFC tags need to be held near an NFC-enabled device for communication to occur. QR codes can be scanned from a short distance, usually a few inches to a couple of feet.

Information Accessibility: With a normal pet chip, the identification number is registered with a central database, and the person scanning the chip needs to access that database to retrieve the owner's contact information. In the case of NFC/QR code pet tags, the information is typically stored directly on the tag itself or on the cloud. In our case all of the Pet details and Owner contact data is stored on our servers in the cloud.

Additional Features: NFC/QR code pet tags offer more versatility compared to normal pet chips. They can be programmed to provide various functionalities, such as GPS tracking, medical information, feeding schedules, or even direct links to the pet owner's contact details. These tags can also be updated with new information, making it easier to keep the pet's details current.

Ease of Use: NFC/QR code pet tags are user-friendly since anyone with an NFC-enabled device or a smartphone can read them. Normal pet chips require specialized scanners, limiting their accessibility. Additionally, updating the information linked to an NFC/QR code pet tag can be done easily by the pet owner, while updating the details associated with a normal pet chip often requires contacting the pet registry.

Both normal pet chips and NFC/QR code pet tags serve the purpose of identifying and reuniting lost pets with their owners. However, NFC/QR code tags provide added features and accessibility that go beyond basic identification, making them more versatile and user-friendly in certain situations.

No app is required to use our platform and pet tags. Your pet’s profile will be shown in the web browser of the phone that scans the QR code or NFC.

This means that anybody with a smartphone can notify you immediately of your missing pet’s location when they scan the pet tag.
